Travel Time Again!!!

Well we’re heading off again in search of some 4×4 adventures, black maned lions and a ghost town covered in sand! Yes we’re going back to Africa. Starting tomorrow morning in Cape Town we will pick up a 4 x 4 bush camper and drive north out of the city into the lesser known wine region of Malmesbury for a good nights rest before we drive hundreds of miles north towards the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. It is this park that is the basis of this trip. Having seen so many photos come from this park we thought it was time to try get the more remote shots and is hard to get more remote than the Kalahari.

The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is located at the point where South Africa, Namibia and Botswana meet. It took a lot of researching, planning and re-planning to come up with a route from there, we finally decided to head south into Namibia towards the ‘Fish River Canyon’ and from there travel Namibia to places like; Luderitz and back to the stunning sand dunes of Sossusvlei and of course our favourite, Etosha National Park.

In Botswana we are coming up against our biggest adventure yet, camping in the wild unfenced areas of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve where we have to provide all our essentials and will have no electricity or running water, but armed with a Satellite phone and GPS we should be fine!

We are treating ourselves to a few days in Franschhoek outside Cape Town at the end of our trip, to help us revive body and soul… with some wine!!

We don’t think we’ll be able to update you while we’re away, as Starbucks and Wifi is hard to come by in the desert, but we’ll look forward to sharing all our photos and stories on our return.

Have a wonderful summer and talk to you soon!!

Michelle & Andy
